During the holiday season, WYA volunteers spend the morning with the Westchester Marine Corps Reserve Toys for Tots program in Hastings-on-Hudson, sorting toys by developmental range for families throughout Westchester who do not have the ability to provide toys that year. Volunteers help out by counting and sorting toys, bagging toys for agency pickup, receiving toys from other donors and field volunteers, and moving toys to outbound staging areas. The toys are distributed to participating agencies that provide resources for local underserved communities, including the Westchester Department of Social Services, Open Door Family Medical Centers, and local churches.
